A stylish home can be decorated in any sort of fashion from traditional to cutting edge contemporary; the important factor is to make sure a home does not look dated. Over time fabrics fade and finishes show wear, items fail, break or simply go out of style. Bathrooms are particularly prone to being outdated as medicine and vanity cabinets coupled with the toilet, tub and sink are not the kind of items which are likely to be replaced very often, but with just a little bit of effort even a dated bathroom can be made to look current.
One easy way to update a mundane bathroom is to replace the standard shower curtain rod with a double shower curtain rod. This allows the shower curtain and liner to slide independent of one another plus you can drape or swag the shower curtain. Another alternative is to install a curved shower curtain rod which helps to create extra elbow room in the shower and changes the profile of the room. Use a hookless shower curtain to achieve a cleaner and more contemporary look. Experts recommend replacing the shower curtain and liner on a regular basis; at the same time it’s a good idea to replace the window treatments and any bath mats or rugs.
Bedrooms are another area that tend to get overlooked as they are usually seen only by family and close friends. When you think about it, you spend almost a third of your life sleeping, so it only makes sense to invest in creating an attractive and restful environment. Even if the bedding is completely current it’s still fun to add some decorative pillows or a colorful throw as an accessory piece to update the look of a bedroom in minutes.
